Jury comments: The jury defined this project as visually captivating, and appreciated that we learned something about the larger issue of e-waste. This project makes a real statement about the vast exploitation of raw material in Ghana and the environment impact of our digital and electronic waste. This project allowed the jury to discuss the role of speculation in architecture—understanding that while this is not a buildable project, the social issues it raises can certainly be addressed through architecture. The illustrations are fantastic, and have the quality of architectural illustration done by Archigram and Lebbeus Woods.
