Jury comments: Situated near the historic town center, the community school connects via paths to other civic spaces, offering 21st century learning opportunities, while preserving the natural environment. The interiors are vibrant, optimizing daylight and solar gain, as well as the use of healthy materials. Informal learning areas outside the classrooms enable small group activities while allowing students to remain in the teachers’ sight. While the jury is not keen on learning stairs, the use here creates a meaningful and central connection between the building’s two floors.
