Westfield State University Davis Hall Addition & Renovations

2019 Accessible Design Awards

Citation – Thomas P. Hopkins Memorial Award

Project name: Westfield State University Davis Hall Addition & Renovations

Project location: Westfield, MA

Firm name: Stegman+Associates:Architects with Caolo & Bieniek Associates

Jury comments: A straightforward intervention made to create one accessible point of entry is executed clearly and simply with the addition of a sleek glass volume. New common spaces open up on each floor, and the old, confused circulation is made logical. This difficult 1960s residence hall is brought back to life.

Client: Massachusetts State College Building Authority; Westfield State University

Consultants: D.A. Sullivan & Sons; Consulting Engineering Services; Johnson Structural Engineering
