Jury Overview

A program of the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board

Sponsored by the BSA Access Committee

With these awards, we honor a collection of projects that demonstrate immense care and thought in crafting universal design. The 2019 Accessible Design Award winners aren’t projects that tack on elements to solve problems; rather, they approach challenges with a holistic view, presenting nuanced, creative, and exemplary solutions. Each project might be a teaching example to future architects, showing what is possible when excellent architectural design is also universal.

This program recognizes a variety of project types: historic preservation projects, given the William D. Smith Memorial Award; residential projects; and public architecture projects, given the Thomas P. Hopkins Memorial Award.
