Walden Pond Visitor Center

2019 Accessible Design Awards

Honor Award – Thomas P. Hopkins Memorial Award

Project name: Walden Pond Visitor Center

Project location: Concord, MA

Firm name: Maryann Thompson Architects

Jury comments: This project is all about the approach. Visitors are elevated a remarkable six feet as they move along an understated ramp through the woods toward the building where they are ultimately welcomed into the exhibition and education space. Two other accessible entrances keep access equitable. Strong sustainable elements are the cherry on top.
