Award – William D. Smith Memorial Award
Project name: Massachusetts State Senate Chamber
Project location: Boston
Firm name: CBT
Jury comments: Updated with almost undetectable moves, the historic appearance and much of the physical material in this historic space have been preserved. A lift now facilitates access to the rostrum. The design expands seating to provide for wheelchair access. The discreet treatment of the senate chambers opens the space up in significant ways, without disrupting its feel.
