Jamaica Plain Branch of the Boston Public Library Addition & Renovation

2019 Accessible Design Awards

Honor Award – Thomas P. Hopkins Memorial Award

Project name: Jamaica Plain Branch of the Boston Public Library Addition & Renovation

Project location: Jamaica Plain, MA

Firm name: Utile

Jury comments: The new addition to this 1909 library presents a unified, inviting entrance that connects the library to a nearby community center and main neighborhood thoroughfare. Everyone enters from the street, at-grade with the sidewalk, improving both physical and cultural accessibility. The glass facade provides a wow factor without looking out of place.
