Jury Overview

In 2021, the BSA formally adopted the AIA Framework for Design Excellence as criteria for all awards categories, highlighting social, economic, and environmental values and the role architects play as influencers for impactful change. The jury recommends using a set of standard criteria (emphasizing sustainability) in all categories. Sustainability can be beautiful and inspiring!

The jury evaluated how these diverse projects-based metrics combined with design (emphasizing the former) and how well teams were engaged with sustainability goals that align with the program’s values and missions and future functionality and longevity. Projects that are setting the bar with efficiency and working toward creative solutions are buildings that stay with you for continued discovery. Ultimately, the hope is that mutual, multipurpose, efficient sustainability goals will be the basis for all awards categories.
