Jury Overview
As a jury, we were extremely delighted to review projects based on the AIA Framework for Design Excellence and awarded the projects that, in our opinion, most closely resembled these values. The field of architecture has long been represented as a primarily aesthetic exercise. In this modern world of inequity, climate change, resource scarcity, and mental health concerns, reviewing each submission based on the AIA Framework is an opportunity to represent the true depth of the architectural experience. With this year’s awards, we are seeking to get closer to our professional roots by exhibiting some examples of projects we felt not only represented the rubric but also took the long view of establishing places for people. May the impact of these completed works and their stories bring us ever closer to the legacy of architecture while building a deeper understanding of the people, process, and consideration that goes into transformative design.
