Jury comments: This project turns an element that divides neighborhoods, in this case an elevated highway, into spaces that connect neighborhoods by providing parking, greens space, and storm water management. While specific to spaces located in Boston, this could be a national urban design initiative. In some ways this represents the flip side of the elevated Highline in New York City. This work emphasizes the importance of activating often ignored, marginal areas in cities and exhibits achievable programmatic intent.
