Project name: Floating Bridge
Project overview: Our proposal transforms a bridge into a ship that docks at diverse Boston Harbor shores. Becoming an iconic landmark on each waterfront, island, or wharf it moors at, it activates local cultural and educational events and recreational activities there. The floating bridge connects disparate communities and brings people together.

Jury comments: Few landmarks in Boston have received more (unrequited) creative investment than the Northern Avenue Bridge. Floating Bridge is an unorthodox approach to preserve and give new life to imagined scenarios that provide new public spaces around Boston’s waterfront. It literally “bridges” gaps, places, and the history and the presence beyond the physical constraints of a historic bridge.
