Jury comments: What a big transformation on a small budget. This residential rehab and addition shows itself very well. The challenge was to maintain the modest scale of a Mid-Century house while adding space and creating a greater sense of openness. Now a skylight caps the stairs leading to the new third floor, bringing light into the center of the house. Old and new are well integrated by a cedar rain screen. The presentation text spoke to the building’s successful interaction with the streetscape, but we were disappointed that no images were offered from which we might formulate our own opinions.
