Jury comments: This is a new after-school learning and community center at a public-housing development. The primary design challenge was to provide flexible, multipurpose spaces on a limited budget in a building that could be built by high-school students. Moments feel well resolved, but the project lacks real design coherence. The interior is much more successful than the exterior. Nonetheless, the center brings new opportunities for residents and is a great story about community involvement.
