Jury comments:
Beautifully detailed, this exquisite project is an aria—elegant and spiritual, with a rich juxtaposition of the raw and the refined. When the existing ceiling of this former tailor’s warehouse was exposed, the discovery of vaulted concrete inspired the architect to utilize that found element as the space’s main design feature. Refined transoms unify the public and private zones. At any spot, workers or visitors are visually connected to the exposed concrete, as well as to their peers in other parts of the office, though care is taken to ensure acoustical privacy. Art is beautifully used throughout. The desks are trendy, but in this setting become timeless. In the conference room, fabric pin-up panels attract the eye, set back to frame the stunning marble table. Before and after pictures tell a compelling, satisfying story about this architect’s vision, resourcefulness, and eloquent expression of design.
