Jury comments: The compelling façade mixes an industrial material palette of corrugated steel and cable mesh with warm red cedar siding reminiscent of its triple-decker neighbors. It takes skill to use industrial materials in a way that doesn’t make a building look like a factory. The units offer great natural light and cross ventilation, though the interior is not as strong as the form. This project challenges assumptions about a building type that has very narrow margins.
