Project name: Cholera Treatment Center
Project location: Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Firm name: MASS Design Group
Jury comments: The Cholera Treatment Center is an exemplary manifestation of form meets function. There is nothing arbitrary or accidental about it. Every detail is beautiful and intentional. The stunning screen provides necessary ventilation. The striking roofline works to collect rainwater. The center sits over the city–a resource for the community and its long-term health. And it gives to the community in so many ways–built with local talent, labor, and expertise, and a sustained commitment to Port-au-Prince. There’s heart in this project, and it shows.
