Jury comments: On the site where historic uprisings led to Korean democracy, this beautifully scaled memorial smartly depresses the building to create an expansive urban park. Inside, lovely light-filled spaces house five different cultural agencies. We hope that when completed, the exterior spaces manifest as beautifully and respectfully as their interior counterparts.
