Project name: Milken Institute School of Public Health, George Washington University
Project location: Washington, DC
Firm name: Payette
Jury comments: With its focus on post-occupancy evaluation, this project demonstrates that the entire building’s life is important, not just the architect’s final product. The trapezoidal-shaped site is difficult, but the building responds well from an urban perspective. The continuous, holistic consideration of aesthetics and the user experience is impressive. Many of the sustainable strategies are leveraged into the experiential dimensions of the design and are indistinguishable from the programmatic requirements for wellness and healthy living.
