These projects go beyond good execution and visual stimulation. This is work done by nimble and boundary-pushing firms that meet clients’ needs while adding value in unexpected and inventive ways. A handful eschew expectations and entirely rethink spaces—early learning facilities, exhibitions, public housing, and vacant lots. We admired design that did a lot with a little—whether a tight budget, hyper-specific program, client constraints, or small space.
